Foolish Operations is looking for a Montreal-based performer for our production of “Moving Resting Nesting”

Foolish Operations ~ Artistic Direction: Julie Lebel

Foolish Operations’ mandate is to create dance experiences that welcome babies, toddlers and their families in performances and workshops filled with irresistible invitations to participate. We collaborate with artists, educators and specialists to spark inspiration between communities, disciplines and fields of knowledge, using play in art-making as the glue.

Foundation: Foolish Operations Society was incorporated in 2016, as a not-for-profit society, on the ancestral and unceded Indigenous territories of the xʷməθkʷəjˀəm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil Waututh) First Nations, also known as Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Foolish Operations is remounting Dans la maison des oiseaux, a performance for one dance theatre artist and two musicians, April/ May 2025 for performances on the island of Montreal and future tours in Eastern Canada.

Moving Resting Nesting is Foolish Operations’ participatory, site flexible performance for young children (3-8 years) and their adults.

Set under a tree, children and their adults cozy up in a nest to wonder about the world of birds and trees through dance, music, magical objects and illustrations. Blankets hold the secret to this performance – they transform into leaves, clouds and even birds. After each performance, families are invited to move and play.
