Montréal – Audition Call – Baby Space Opera

Foolish Operations (Vancouver, British Columbia) is seeking three dance performers from Montreal/ Greater Montreal for its Grande Ourse – Petite Ourse (Baby Space Opera) project, for future performances in eastern Canada (2027, 2028, etc.).

Grande Ourse – Petite Ourse is a dance theatre performance by Julie Lebel, currently in its final phase of creation, co-produced with Théâtre La Seizième (Vancouver, British Columbia).

Foolish Operations is a company creating dance and theatre performance for very young children and their adults www.foolishoperations.org for more information about the performance visit: https://foolishoperations.org/performances/bso/

We are seeking dancers that can learn partnering choreography based on contact dance skills that includes rolls and shoulder lifts (the duet is not improvised), can speak French and English, and ideally fit the existing costumes – this is the reason we are asking for sizes in this call. The artists must be curious about performing in close proximity to audiences and babies, and dancing with props. Please consider applying even if you don’t meet all of the criteria. This process is made possible thanks to partnerships between Théâtre la Seizième, Festival Petits Bonheurs, Foolish Operations, and funding from the Government of Quebec’s Canadian Relations Support Programme.

Due to the vulnerability of the population we work with, a criminal record check will be required (at no cost), after the audition process.

We are committed to a creative environment that reflects the diversity of our community. We actively encourage and welcome applications from artists who identify as Indigenous, Black, or People of Colour (IBPOC) and speaking more than one language.
