The end of the year is fast approaching. The winter break is almost here! Consider supporting Foolish Operations for this Giving Tuesday, November 27th, 2018.
More specifically, Foolish Operations is taking Paper Playground on tour in British Columbia. We are visiting Smithers and Fort St John – Please help to take us there! Here is why it is important:
- In Smithers, we will be inviting musicians and dancers of the Witsuwit’en community into the creation of our performances. Our goal is to offer a creative space for children of both communities – Witset and Smithers, to dance together. Thanks to Miriam Colvin, artist and director of the Bulkley Valley Concert Association for this initiative!
- North Peace Cultural Centre of Fort St John has an art based, emergent curriculum preschool within its building! We are the first company to come for a performance especially for them. We hope this will be the first of many performances for them. Imagine the possibilities for young children if performance art buildings had dedicated space for humans of all ages – maybe we would not have such an issue with filling our theatre seats.
Foolish Operations is a non-profit society creating and discovering new dance experiences. We explore the power of play to re-shape reality through dance and related arts in performances, installations, workshops and classes.
Our organization is new – only 2 years – but strong, with Julie Lebel as artistic director and her 20 years of professional experience. Consider supporting us as our goal is to reach children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience the magic of the performing arts. We are so young we do not have charity status yet. We thank you for considering our project and we are humbled by your generosity.
We can’t do all of this without you! So please consider a #GivingTuesdaydonation to help us keep our programming accessible to young audiences everywhere.
… And, we will send you postcards!
